Vancouver Moratorium on Self-Storage Construction Likely To Last Most of 2019

The Columbian newspaper reports the Vancouver, WA city council’s moratorium on new self-storage construction will likely not be lifted until fall of 2019. The moratorium, which was implemented in December of 2018, is in response to concern that public storage facilities, which employ few people, are not an effective use of commercial land. The city is drafting a plan that will govern land use in commercial corridors and the moratorium is intended to halt further construction until the plan is in place.
